Beaches of Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach is known for having one of the greatest concentrations of beaches on the California coast. Over 30 beaches are strewn across its seven-mile coastline, each one catering to a different crowd, all taking full advantage of the city's rich natural environment.

Indeed, it's the beaches that make Laguna Beach real estate a popular choice for home buyers. Most Laguna Beach homes are within walking distance of at least one beach, and some even have access to private coves. Some of the most popular spots include:

Divers Cove: located on a coastal bluff along Cliff Drive, featuring a marine refuge area and a large scuba and snorkeling site. The smaller, more secluded Shaw's Cove is also nearby and is largely considered part of Divers Cove.

Main Beach: nicknamed the city's Window to the Sea, this beach is probably what people imagine when they think of Laguna Beach. Features include tide pools, play and picnic areas, and a boardwalk link to the equally popular Heisler Park.

Sleepy Hollow Beach: a large, mostly unobstructed stretch of sand along the Pacific Coast Highway, just between Thalia and Legion. It's especially popular among swimmers and surfers for its quiet, laid-back atmosphere.

Victoria Beach: a fairly secluded beach located in South Laguna, known for its blue-green waters and soft white sands. Beautiful beachside manors are also part of the attraction. Popular activities include volleyball, bodysurfing, skimboarding, diving and fishing.

Woods Cove: a small spot close to Victoria Beach, with the entrance on Diamond Street off the Pacific Coast Highway. Divers often head here from Victoria Beach to avoid the crowds.

Aliso Creek County Beach: a popular spot for families and tourists, mainly because of its convenient location right on Coast Highway. Picnic tables, fire pits and barbecue facilities are open to the public.

Thousand Steps Beach: one of the more active beaches in South Laguna, popular among bodysurfers, volleyball players and a few joggers.
