Laguna Beach Oceanfront Home Rents For $30K

One of the most expensive home rentals in Orange County has just hit the market, and it’s aptly located in upscale Laguna Beach. The home, sitting right on the oceanfront, rents for a cool $30,000 a month—five times more than most high-end beach rentals in the South Coast city.

The beach home is located at 14 Lagunita and lies on Victoria Beach, said by many to be one of the most expensive stretches on the Laguna coast. It is part of the exclusive Lagunita gated community, where homes are valued at an average of $2 million, and was last sold in May 2006 for $11 million.

The three-story, 4,300-square foot home boasts five bedrooms and five baths, and a full 180-degree ocean view. All rooms also open up to panoramic views of the famous Laguna Beach sand and whitewater.

The home was recently renovated in a soft contemporary style and fitted with travertine flooring, granite countertops, and state-of-the-art appliances. Other features include a two car garage and an elevator.

A few experts find the rental price too high despite the home’s location and features, but many also consider it a good “luxury price.” Laguna Beach home rentals generally range from $1,500 to $6,500, according to July 2010 statistics from MyApartmentMap.com.

Beach home and apartment rentals have gained ground in Laguna Beach this year as more people chose to rent for the moment instead of buying property. The same trend has been observed in much of coastal California, including Newport Beach and Dana Point, two other cities known for their prohibitively high home prices.
